Insert the business end of the snake into the drain and feed it into the drain as far as it will go. Usually, you will feel when it hits the clog. Push the snake further into the clog and start turning the handle. Once the water drains, you know that the clog is gone. If the water isn’t draining, try a bigger snake. After the clog is removed, pull the snake out and pour a half-gallon of hot water down the drain to wash away any remaining residue.
